Chapter 249: A Glitch?

Chapter 249: A Glitch?

Jason couldn’t believe what he had just done, he didn’t know what came over him but it was like his body was moving on its own.

"What have I done?" The disgruntled man muttered to himself, not believing what he had done because this was something he shouldn’t even think about doing to the woman he loved.

[[I detected irregular brain activity]]

Chronos informed Jason.

"Irregular brain activity?" Jason responded with a raised brow.

[[That is correct, the fragment isn’t synchronized]]

"What the hell does that mean?" Jason questioned, he didn’t have time to start deciphering what Chronos meant.

[[The fragment became unstable when you were bitten]]

"That is impossible, I haven’t been bit-!" Jason paused, realizing that it wasn’t a zombie that had bitten him but the child he had brought back sunk its teeth into him.

This was the only explanation and it would make sense but come to think of it, Jason couldn’t remember a zombie ever biting him.

"How is this affecting my behaviour!?" Jason barked, he couldn’t blame whatever this was because he knew it wouldn’t be possible for it to influence his behaviour to such a drastic effect.

The analogy to best describe this would be superman coming into contact with red kryptonite, Jason was himself but it had simply brought out a version of him that he, himself, wasn’t aware existed.

Chronos didn’t answer him because he knew it was rhetorical, Jason wasn’ looking for an answer because he already knew what it was.

He didn’t know how long this thing would last but he knew it was in his best interest to stay away from away Rachel for as long as he was unstable.

"Hi Jason," A voice greeted him; Jason recognized that voice because it belonged to Shantel.

"Shantel?" Jason responded, he didn’t know why but all he could see when he looked at her was a woman he wanted to bend over.

[[Lust Meter: 20%!]

Jason realized that he couldn’t get aroused because while Shantel wouldn’t refuse him, he couldn’t betray Rachel that way and this was why he needed to keep his urges under control.

Shantel could tell he was trying to look away from her cleavage despite it being right in front of him.

She didn’t know what was wrong but something about Jason seemed off but she had no interest in pressing on.

She wanted to tell him something and it wasn’t a conversation that they could have in public.

"Where is the kid?" Jason quickly asked, trying to take his mind off the flashback he was having.

"He is fine, he has been taken to Mariam for him to pick a role but he should be good from now on," Shantel responded and Jason heaved a sigh of relief.

[[Lust Meter: 10%!]]

Jason was relieved that it was dropping because this was the last thing he needed right now.

Shantel’s body language told him that there was something she wished to discuss.

Jason sighed before blurting out.

"What is it?" Jason asked her outright.

"I need to talk to you," Shantel said but Jason couldn’t trust himself enough to not try anything with Shantel, a lady who had no problems being used by him.

This not only meant that she wouldn’t resist but she wouldn’t stop him.

"Maybe later, my hands are kind of tied up now," Jason responded with an awkward smile but she understood where he was coming from.

He had just gotten back and probably needed some rest, this was bad timing on her part.

"Oh, okay..." Shantel responded, the disappointment evident in her voice.

But Jason didn’t care, he needed some rest and maybe that should help clear his head.

Jason returned home and laid on the bed and before he knew it, the exhaustion hit him like a wrecking ball and his eyes closed.

He slumbered the moment his back hit that bed but was this going to be a peaceful dream?

Sam and Sanders survived the threat of the zombie but Sam was in a vulnerable state.

He was injured but something told Sanders he was even more dangerous in this state.

Sam clearly had the means to kill this zombie so why did he wait as long as he did?

Sanders also discovered he had nothing to do with the fall of the base and his knowledge about the mission that Alpha went on was severely limited.

In the end, Sam didn’t have as much information as he initially thought.

He was equally as clueless but this didn’t mean that he was going to give up on his search for the truth.

He was going after Schneider or at least that was their objective.

There hasn’t been any official announcement regarding his death, it was believed he was bitten and thus, could be presumed dead but what if this was a deliberate act?

In a twisted sense, Schneider did accomplish his task of making humans immortal even though they had to die first for that to happen.

Sanders knew there had to be more than this and if anyone could survive a zombie bite, it had to be Schneider.

There was no two ways about it and this could be considered a fool’s errand but there was something that Alpha saw right before he died.

Delta had requested backup from their base before his demise but the then Colonel turned it down because it would leave his own base susceptible to attacks.

This was a wise choice if what Alpha reportedly found wasn’t of such great importance.

"You know, Colonel... If you want to kill me, now is your chance," Sam pointed out. Sanders didn’t know if he was joking or not but it was hard to tell with Sam.

Sam, with this statement, showed that he still saw Sanders as an enemy.

Sanders knew he had to be careful because a wounded beast was even more dangerous than a tame one and Sam right now was even more dangerous.
