His Mistress is His Ex-Wife

Chapter 355: Searching for Him

Chapter 355: Searching for Him

"W-What? Dom has... stomach cancer... yet he is refusing to undergo treatment?" Sabrina uttered, still shaken by this revelation.

Her heart constricted inside her chest, filling her with unease. The color drained from her face as her lips trembled.

Enzo and Gael looked at her worriedly. They could tell that Sabrina was greatly affected by that piece of bad news.

"Sis, are you okay? Wait here." Enzo immediately stood up to get her a glass of water to calm her nerves.

Meanwhile, Gael stayed by her side, gently rubbing her back.

"I’m sorry, Sabby. I didn’t mean to shock you. I know this doesn’t concern you. It’s just that... I believe... Dominique might listen to you if you try convincing him to undergo treatment." Gael expressed his honest thoughts regarding this matter.

Sabrina remained quiet, still trying to process his words.

Dominique had kept another secret from her. When she met him, he told her he was healthy. But it turned out... he was already suffering from his illness.

"Damn it. I shouldn’t be doing this. I shouldn’t have bothered you. Because I know, you are already preoccupied with your wedding preparation..." he started to regret his actions.

Sabrina looked so troubled. He didn’t expect that this news would affect her so much.

"Gael! Don’t apologize," she said, grabbing his hands. "I truly appreciate that you told me about Dominique’s illness. After all, he is still Aaron’s father. Please come with me. I need to talk to him. I will try my best to convince him..."

Gael nodded in agreement. The two of them stood up, heading out.

"Sis! Gael! Where are you going?" Enzo asked, still holding the glass of water for Sabrina.

"To see Dom," she promptly responded. "Brother, can you please fetch Aaron from the school on my behalf?"

"Sure, Sis. Just leave it to me. I’ll pick up the kids from their school," he reassured her.

"Thanks, Bro!"

Since Sabrina was not in a proper condition to drive, Gael took the wheel.

"Do you know where to find him?"

Sabrina nodded. "Yes. I have the address of his new apartment. I went there once... when he gave me our divorce papers."

Gael quickly entered the address on his navigation app. As they were on their way to Dominique’s place, Sabrina tried calling him. However, his number was no longer active.

She became more restless. "I can’t contact him."

"Calm down, Sabby. We are near his place," Gael said, trying to comfort her.

After a few minutes, they finally arrived at their destination.

Sabrina hastily alighted from the car, running toward Dominique’s door. She pressed the doorbell several times, but no one answered her.

She started knocking, pounding her fist against the door.

"Dom! It’s me, Sabrina. Please open the door!" She called out, deep worry etched on her face.

Still nothing.

Thud! Thud!

"Is he not there?" Gael asked from behind.

She turned to look at him, eyes turning red. She was on the verge of crying.

"Gael... what if something happened to him? Can we break the door and barge into his place?" Her voice was desperate.

He hesitated for a moment, his gaze drifting between Sabrina and the door.

"I think... We should consult the building owner first. Perhaps, they have a spare key," he suggested.

Sabrina nodded in agreement.

They headed to the building security station to inquire.

"Unit 405? Mr. Dominique Smith?" The personnel asked them to confirm.

"Yes. We can’t contact him. Maybe you could open his door for us. What if he collapsed due to his illness?" Sabrina explained the reason why they wanted to unlock Dominique’s apartment.

The security personnel checked his records and the logging journal.

"Ma’am, it seems that Mr. Dominique Smith hadn’t returned to his apartment for the past few days. Maybe he went on vacation. I remember seeing him leaving, using his car, a few days ago. Let me check the CCTV footage of the hallway."

After a while, the security personnel returned, confirming his suspicion.

"Ma’am, Mr. Smith left his unit with his backpack and luggage. He is not around."

Sabrina felt like her heart sank to the bottom of her stomach upon hearing that.

’Where did he go?’

The first place that popped into her mind was Miguel Ivankov’s villa.

"Thank you for assisting us!" Gael told the security personnel.

This time, Sabrina dragged Gael back to the car.

"We need to go somewhere, Gael. Since he is not here, I guess... he might be staying in Don Miguel’s villa."

Gael immediately understood her. Without further ado, they proceeded to Don Miguel’s villa.

The butler welcomed them warmly, ushering them inside the house. Don Miguel had just returned after reconciling with his children, Lanny and Vladimir.

"What brings you here, Miss Williams? Did Vladimir tell you something?" Miguel asked in his neutral tone. He had already accepted her as his daughter-in-law.

Meanwhile, Sabrina looked at him with a troubled expression.

"Don Miguel, I’m not here because of Vladimir. I am searching for Dominique. Is he here?"

Miguel’s eyebrows knitted into a deep frown. "Dominique?"

"Yes."

The middle-aged man shook his head. "I haven’t seen him since he left my villa. He already found a new place to stay. Why are you looking for him?"

Sabrina’s concern for Dominique intensified further. She didn’t know where he went.

"I want to talk to him and convince him to undergo treatment," Sabrina replied, directly to the point.

Miguel became a little bit confused. "Undergo treatment? Why?"

Sabrina had confirmed her suspicion. Even Miguel was left in the dark about Dominique’s illness.

"Don, Miguel... please find Dominique. We need to talk to him and change his mind. The truth is... he has stomach cancer, but he refuses to undergo treatment."

Don Miguel was shocked beyond belief upon hearing that.

"What?! Stomach cancer?! Are you serious?!"

This time, Gael stepped forward. "Yes. I’m the one who overheard his conversation with his doctor. I can attest that Dominique has cancer. But for some reason, he doesn’t want to do any treatment, as if he has already given up on his life. We need to convince him and stop his suicidal thoughts."

After hearing the severity of the situation, Miguel quickly summoned his men.

"All of you! Find Dominique as soon as possible. Bring him to me at all costs!"

"Yes, Master!!!" They responded in unison before heading out of the villa.

When they left, Miguel turned to face Sabrina and Gael.

"Don’t worry. I consider him my son. I won’t let him die! Even if he refuses to undergo treatment, I will definitely force him!" he said, reassuring them.

For the first time, Sabrina wanted to rely on Don Miguel’s power. She believed that he could make this possible.

"Thank you, Don Miguel... I really appreciate your help. I’m sorry for bothering you."

Gael and Sabrina were about to leave, but Miguel called her.

"Sabrina, wait. There is something I have to tell you."

Sabrina lifted her head, meeting Miguel’s eyes. "What is it, Don Miguel?"

"I already reconciled with Lanny and Vladimir. I want you to know that I already accept you as my daughter-in-law..."

She was taken aback for a moment. Then Miguel spoke again.

"However, I still have something to clear. I mean to ask you this. I hope you will be honest with me."

He looked at her intently before he continued.

"You are about to marry my son, but why... why are you here... worrying about Dominique?"
