Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever

Chapter 281: Someone Has Fallen Into the Trap

Chapter 281: Someone Has Fallen Into the Trap

Summer Lowell stepped back, creating some distance: "Don’t you think what we’re doing now is pointless? Why not just end it quickly, it’ll be better for both of us."

"Don’t even think about it," Maxim Sinclair moved closer, wrapping an arm around Summer’s shoulder, "I have something to tell you. I’m going to another province to handle a deal. Justin Huxley has set his eyes on this business of mine and is racking his brain trying to snatch it from me. But it’s wishful thinking for him. I won’t let him have his way."

"I don’t want to hear this, I don’t care. Go wherever you like." Summer, resisting, pushed him away and turned to leave.

Maxim could only watch her figure with a complex expression, shaking his head and sighing.

...

Justin Huxley woke up from a nap in surprise and called his assistant, Cameron Young: "Have the payments from the partner been transferred yet?"

Cameron shook his head: "We’re still waiting for the news. They mentioned it would be this morning, but it’s already afternoon and still hasn’t come through."

"How did he promise it before? Are you sure he said it would be transferred this morning?" Justin felt an inexplicable sense of unease, but couldn’t pinpoint where it was coming from.

Cameron nodded: "I’m certain, President Huxley. The people down there are still waiting for this payment. Without the money, the next phase of the project is hard to push forward. How about you consult with the company?"

"No," Justin shook his head, disagreeing, "Julian Huxley and Tina Huxley are currently making every effort to build relationships with everyone in the company. I have to negotiate this deal in secret. They can’t know a word about it."

Besides, when visiting the old residence for dinner a few days ago, Old Master Huxley subtly hinted several times about the chairmanship of Omni Group, suggesting that the capable would take the position.

It’s a crucial moment right now.

Justin didn’t want anything to go wrong.

"Wait a bit longer. When the next phase asks again, find a way to stall." Justin said, a bit irritated, as he took out a cigarette and lit it, "It shouldn’t be a problem, no need to rush. Isn’t this kind of thing common?"

Cameron sneakily glanced at him, swallowed the words back down and nodded, agreeing when Justin looked over, "Okay, I’ll take care of it."

Two hours later, Cameron Young returned to Justin’s office, hastily summoned by a chain of phone calls: "President Huxley, the team urgently needs the money, and it seems Tina is trying to investigate you. The current situation... is not too optimistic."

"Watch your words," Justin looked up in displeasure, "What do you mean ’not too optimistic’? Everything’s fine, isn’t it? It’s just a money problem, I’m handling it."

Knowing he’s not in a good mood, Cameron carefully considered his words: "But rest assured, President Huxley, I’ve got an eye on the company’s people. They won’t find out what you’re up to."

"You’ve done well." Justin closed the file, his face full of frustration, massaging his temples, "I’ll write you a note, go to finance and get the money from Aldridge."

"President Huxley," Cameron understood something and couldn’t help advising, "This doesn’t seem quite appropriate. If we’re discovered..."

"Just be careful, don’t get caught. The money will be transferred in a day or two. Borrow some public funds to fill the gap temporarily. Once the payment comes through, we’ll plug this hole immediately." Justin decisively drummed his hand, "Do as I say."

Seeing his resolve, Cameron, knowing it was useless to persuade further, followed his instructions to the finance department for the money.

Before doing this, Cameron made sure to cover his tracks, involving another of Justin’s close associates to handle it, so he could distance himself from the situation.

Just in case... he would end up taking the fall with Justin.

Unbeknownst to Justin, all this was happening.

After completing the task, Cameron told Justin about his perceived rival, Maxim Sinclair: "What’s Maxim Sinclair up to now?"

"He took a flight this morning to Yorland for a business deal."

"Flew to Yorland?" Justin didn’t quite understand, "I don’t remember him having business there. He has international dealings, but his focus shouldn’t be in Yorland, right?"

"Rumor has it he’s in Yorland because an important domestic client is vacationing there. He’s gone there for that client."

"Gone for the client," Justin pondered for a moment before speaking again, "Can you find out which client he’s after?"

"Still investigating. As soon as there’s news, I’ll inform you," Cameron replied, while noting it down in his phone’s memo. After recording it, he shared his opinion, "But I think, this must be a very important client for Maxim Sinclair, perhaps one who might help him turn the current disadvantageous situation around."

"That’s exactly what I was thinking," Justin nodded with a smile, "So find out quickly who that client is. If there’s a chance to win them over, I’ll act now. We must extinguish any sign of Maxim Sinclair making a comeback from every angle."

"Understood, President Huxley."

Meanwhile, in a mountain villa on the outskirts, Maxim Sinclair was alone, occupying a long sofa, supporting his chin with his hand, blankly staring at the large screen in front.

Assistant Collins, after finishing a phone call, came in from outside and approached him, "President Sinclair, someone around Justin Huxley is investigating you, trying to find out which client you plan to meet in Yorland."

Maxim smiled at the news, and those sitting on both sides of the sofa also smiled along.

On the screen, Charles Jenson, who was speaking noticed the people here were all smiling, and stopped confusedly, "What are you all laughing about? Was there something wrong with what I said?"

Assistant Collins shook his head with a laugh, "Nothing to do with you, President Jennings, we’re discussing Justin Huxley. He’s fallen into our trap, so we’re pleased."

"I see," Charles took a sip of water and continued from where he left off, finishing the discussion. Unable to curb his curiosity afterward, he asked, "Which trap did Justin Huxley fall into? We’ve laid so many for him."

Before Assistant Collins could answer, Maxim Sinclair replied, "He’s currently investigating what I’m doing in Yorland. If I’m not mistaken, he previously benefited by snatching my project and is attempting to take something else again."

"In my opinion, this person has a misguided self-perception," Charles let out a couple of mocking chuckles, "With his capabilities, trying to grab something from us... it’s a wonder he won’t be left with nothing."

"Indeed, anyone with eyes would know who to choose between me and him,"

Maxim said softly, and with those words, the room fell into silence.
