A Night of Desire

Chapter 363 - 356: Tell Me, Did You Lie to Me About Something?

Chapter 363 - 356: Tell Me, Did You Lie to Me About Something?

Clara Grant tilted her head and said thoughtfully, "Well, that depends. Is it a small thing we can laugh off, or is it something serious?"

"What if... it’s something serious?" Seth Quinn stared at her, his eyes filled with a mixture of tension and anticipation.

"Serious things are definitely unforgivable. I despise people who lie about major issues. They don’t know how to consider other people’s feelings or respect their emotions at all!"

’Like Miss Shaw, who lied and said Cherie was Seth’s biological son, or Chloe Grant, who lied and said Seth and Autumn Shelby were deeply in love!’

Clara spoke with absolute conviction, and Seth’s heart pounded with fear as he listened. He subconsciously asked again, "If it’s unforgivable, what would you do?"

Clara suddenly smiled at him. "You seem a little nervous. Tell me, have you lied to me about something?"

"Clara, the truth is..." Seth really wanted to just tell her right then, but as soon as he opened his mouth, his phone chimed with a WeChat notification.

He pulled his phone from his pocket and opened WeChat. It was a message from his older sister: "Seth, Cherie and I are on a plane back to the U.S.A. Remember, do not, under any circumstances, tell Clara the truth right now. Hide it for a while longer. Wait until she’s completely in love with you—so in love that she won’t blame you or leave you, even when she finds out you lied. It won’t be too late to tell her then."

Seth stared at the message for a long time without replying, then slipped the phone back into his pocket.

Clara helped him take off the jacket he had been trying on and asked casually, "What were you going to say earlier?"

Seth looked down, avoiding her eyes. "It was nothing. You still haven’t answered me—if I lied to you about something serious, what would you do?"

"I’d divorce you. What else could I do?" Clara said, hanging the suit in the closet for him.

"Definitely divorce?" Seth asked, his eyes fixed on her back.

Clara’s movements faltered for a moment before she spoke again. "Well, maybe not if we had a child."

’After all, she, Sarah, and Cherie had all grown up in single-parent households. Even though they were happy and had their mothers’ love, who wouldn’t want a complete family? Who wouldn’t want to be loved by both a mother and a father!’

’Especially Cherie. He was so young, yet so sensible and well-behaved. That was probably partly because his father wasn’t around.’

’She wanted her own children to have the love of both a father and a mother, to grow up healthy and happy in a complete home.’

The words had barely left her lips when, before she could even turn, Seth wrapped his arms tightly around her from behind. He rested his chin gently on the top of her head and murmured thoughtfully, "A child?"

His voice was soft as he spoke those two words. Clara hadn’t thought much of it when she’d said it, but hearing him repeat it felt like he was teasing her, and her face instantly flushed red.

She squirmed and turned to face him. "I... I’m going to go take a shower. I’ve been shopping all day, and I’m covered in sweat."

...

After they had both showered and were lying in bed, Seth moved closer to her. Clara’s body tensed for a moment, worried he’d mistaken her earlier words for a flirtation and was now aroused.

She had just started to turn away when he wrapped his arms around her from behind again.

Just when she thought he was about to make his next move, he became still, simply holding her gently in his embrace.

He didn’t move or speak. The only thing she felt was the warmth of his breath on her neck. Sensing his presence, Clara felt completely at ease.

She was also exhausted from shopping all day. Just as Clara, nestled in the crook of his arm, was about to drift off to sleep, Seth suddenly spoke.
